From the Rooftops: Feeling Grateful
I've been feeling mighty grateful as of late, my friends. As many of you know, I've moved away from much of my marketing work. While working in strategy creation, community engagement, content management and public relations has helped with financial stability over the last many, many years, I found myself needing to get back to my more creative roots.
Over the last few months, I've allowed myself the time and space to be creative. Much of the work produced during that time remains unseen, unread and unheard by the general public.
While the time and space that allows me to do such work is something I cherish, it hasn't been easy. I've been plugging along and putting my work out there without much response. However, in the last several weeks, I've had small victories worth celebrating.
- People are taking notice of my photography hobby.
- Editors and publishers are responding well to my writing.
- Fellow creatives are welcoming me into their well-established communities.
Those three small, yet important things are helping me feel justified in what I'm trying to accomplish as a full-time content creator. I find that confidence in my own work can only take me so far. When I'm creating work for public consumption, it's important for the audience to respond in some way and when the response is positive, well... cue the happy dance.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I get to pursue and I couldn't do it without the support of my friends, family, those of you who read this little blog and those who are proving to be fantastic partners as I continue this type of work.
Thank you.
