Day Tripping: Gone Coastal
My friends and I had big plans for a day trip to Muir Woods to hike part of the Dipsea Trail last weekend. We had a nice leisurely breakfast at Parkside Cafe in Stinson Beach (which was great, by the way) and ended up getting a pretty late start. The parking lots at Muir Woods were completely packed. Like you-have-to-hike-for-days-to-the-trail-head-just-to-start-your-hike packed.
So, we improvised and got lots of this:
and this:
and a little bit of this:
We ended up checking out The Steep Ravine Cabins just off Highway 1. Jenna had looked into booking the cabins before and we were so glad to see them in person. They're kind of amazing:
Don't worry, this cabin wasn't occupied while we were there. They must have had a last minute cancellation because, as you can see here, they're usually ridiculously hard to reserve. Nevertheless, they are definitely on our must visit list. Just look at the view!
We also checked out the Muir Beach Overlook, which was pretty socked in. See the wall of fog:
I attempted to capture some video of it rolling in:
It was so great to get a little ocean time in. I can't wait to come back and tackle the Dipsea Trail (and others) soon.
Happy Monday, all!
